What Exactly Is Micro-needling?

It seems like new skincare treatments are always being created to help us look and feel our very best. Sometimes, it can be tricky to understand just what is what. One example is the difference between micro-needling and micro-blading. Are these two procedures the same thing? Microblading is a cosmetic process that involves tiny tattooing that brings pigment to your eyebrows, giving you those great brows without all that mirror time. Micro-needling is completely different. Instead of beautifying your brows, micro-needling helps repair your skin to remove fine lines, crow’s feet and acne scars that blemish your beauty.

How Does Micro-needling Work?

Micro-needling is a way to enhance your skin’s natural healing techniques in order to reduce those fine lines and wrinkles, removing years from your face. It can also be used to soften up those acne scars you have hated since prom. Your body heals by sending a greater blood flow to the micro-injuries, so the tissue can repair itself naturally and quickly.

In a 30-minute micro-needling session, a certified technician uses a medical-grade precision tool to make miniscule openings in the area being treated. This causes blood flow to increase and stimulates your inner surgeon to heal the area. This produces smaller pores and tighter skin. The best part? There is virtually no down time! 24 hours w/o make-up. You won’t go through a long or intense recovery stage after micro-needling. Many people experience a temporary redness, but it often resolves in 24 to 72 hours. Many people report it feels like a mild sunburn, without the heat. We often have clients who no longer experience any redness in only 24 hours.

How Long Will the Process Take?

Your technician will apply a topical numbing agent to the area to be treated. This will remain on the area from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the person. The Needling process takes about 30 minutes to complete. The technician will discuss with you the continued improvement you can expect from a series of treatments. Multiple sessions are typically scheduled a month apart. This gives your skin time to recover, giving you the best possible result.
